LeaseReputation is operated by Lease Reputation LLC (“LeaseReputation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We operate the website at leasereputation.com and related services that let renters read and write verified reviews of apartment communities (the “Service”).

This Privacy Policy describes the personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights and choices you have. By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Information you provide

• Contact details — such as your email address when you request early access or create an account.
• Account and profile information — such as a display name and login credentials.
• Reviews and ratings — the content you submit about an apartment community, including text, scores, and dates of residency.
• Verification information — information you provide so we can confirm you actually lived at a property, which may include a lease, a utility bill, a resident-portal confirmation, mail with your name and address, or bank-linked confirmation of recurring rent payments, and identity information used to confirm you are a unique, real person.
• Communications — messages you send us, including support requests and review reports.

Information collected automatically

When you use the Service, we and our providers automatically collect certain information, including your device and browser type, IP address, pages viewed, links clicked, referring pages, and similar usage data, through cookies and similar technologies. See our Cookie Policy.

Information from third parties

We may receive information from identity- and residency-verification providers, fraud-prevention and analytics providers, and publicly available or licensed property-data sources used to build apartment-community listings.

Verification and sensitive information

Confirming residency and identity is core to what makes our reviews trustworthy — and it requires care. We use the information you submit for verification only to confirm residency and identity. Access is limited to personnel and processors who need it for that purpose.

We do not publish your verification documents, and we minimize what we keep: where practical, we verify and then delete or de-identify sensitive verification materials, or retain them only for a limited period to support fraud prevention and dispute resolution. We aim to store the minimum needed and not to become a repository of your lease or financial documents.

How we share information

We share personal information only as described below:

• Service providers — vendors that host our infrastructure, send email, provide analytics, and perform identity/residency verification, acting on our instructions.

Reviews you publish may remain available even after you close your account, but we will disassociate them from your account or de-identify them where appropriate, to preserve the integrity and usefulness of the review record.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Where we operate

LeaseReputation is based in the United States and processes information there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
